Everything that we use today has been driven by the data.
if you look at the 21st Century all out biggest companies are data driven.
From google, facebook, Instagram, tic tok are drive by the data that is collected from their use. The algorithm is driven by the need for data to then analyse to decide what we see from video’s and the adver
Data is helping to decide the outcome of elections as this given better analysis as the data never lies. merely how it use determines the outcomes. The data does not lie its is always objective. We can use the data to support one version of argument.
However data can be used for the greater good. It is an effective tool to identify, how best to allocate resources effectively. You can be targeted in your response. You can also really identify the who, where , why and how instead of guessing. Data allows you to target those hard to reach groups and ask those difficult and the right question to really get into the nuances of an issue.
Data allows you to create solutions that are innovate and reach those that often slip through the net. It should be used to drive policies, given world wide pandemic, where would have been without data that has allowed it modelled and given the governments to plan and put in place solution and be reactive and proactive at the same time. Allow the data to dictate the next steps has allowed the best use of resources and keep people safe.
Those countries that have used the data to all potential have been able the worst effects of the pandemic. There are lessons that have to learned from this. Given that we live in a very global world , what Covid-19 has shown is that if one nation catches a cold, we all catch that cold. There needs to be more global response and collaboration to any future pandemic and protocols in place to reduce the spread across international border. Lessons can be learnt from the African continent who have learned the lessons from not waiting and closing borders and being of their lack of formal joined medial infrastructure using well honed track and trace community based practiced appeared to have saved them from following the fate of the developed nations.
The fear of west being afraid of using their personal data where the panic and those that are infected being traced has meant that millions has lost lives and many countries has been in locked for the 3 months all ion the name of person freedom, when in fact by not sharing their data they have lost their freedom and they have had to remain in their homes.
What would have happened if they had allowed their perusal data to be used, would there have been lock down, how many lives would have been saved? Not to mention the impact on the economy and the number of jobs that will be lost post lockdown. Data modelling should used to drawn the scenarios and the optimal outcome to cause the least number of job losses.
